About ZOAT
ZOAT: A Legacy of Sport & Camaraderie
ZOAT stands for Zuidoost Azië Toernooi (Southeast Asia Tournament), a unique and cherished annual tournament rooted in history and friendship. Established in 1906 in Jakarta by Dutch expatriates, it has evolved over more than a century into one of Asia’s most eagerly anticipated sporting gatherings.
By 1972, ZOAT had taken on its current form and rhythm: an exciting, rotating annual weekend of hockey and golf hosted across five dynamic cities—Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Singapore.
Why ZOAT?
-
Sporting Excellence & Social Spirit: ZOAT brings together around 400 players and supporters for competitive matches—and unforgettable moments both on and off the pitch.
-
Dynamic Rotation: Each year, the tournament lights up a different city, offering a fresh backdrop and cultural flair for participants to enjoy.
-
Community & Continuity: For nearly 120 years, ZOAT has been more than a tournament—it’s a celebration of Dutch heritage, sportsmanship, and the bonds formed across Asia
